The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of scholarship for the year 2007-08 & 2008-09 under the scheme of Award of Post Doctoral Fellowship to schedule caste/scheduled Tribe candidates.

This scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates from the deprived section of the society and to provide them an opportunity to undertake advance studies and research in science, Engg. & Tech., Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian University/Institutions/Colleges.

The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to SC/ST candidates to undertake Post Doctoral Research in sciences, Engg. & Tech., Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.

The candidate must have a doctorate degree in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit. The upper age limit for male applicants is 50 years as on Ist July of the year of the application and 55 years in the case of female candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed. The tenure of the award is five years with No provision for further extension.

Peon-cum-Helper – (Two) at a fixed salary of Rs. 4,726/- p.m. fixed.

Qualifications-
Middle pass. Knowledge in reading and writing at least one Regional language.


Age:

Below 35 years for Post No. 1 & 2, below 28 years for Post No. 3 to 5 and below 25 years for Post No. 6. SC/ST/OBC and departmental candidates are allowed relaxation in accordance with the Govt. of India Rules, in force.

SC/ST and Council’s employees are exempted from this payment. Incomplete and late applications will not be entertained. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be disqualification. The attested copies of certificate in support of age, educational qualifications, caste, experience should also be sent.

The total duration of the project is two years.

The appointment is terminable with One month notice from either side without assigning any reason. Since the project is purely temporary, the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project. No benefit of Provident Fund, HRA, CCA, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Claim etc. No TA/DA etc. will be given for attending the interview.

Applications are invited upto 15.8.2008 for one post of Scientist – C in the scale of pay of Rs. 10000-325-15200 under ICMR Research Cadre and it carries All India transfer liability .


Essential Qualification

  • MBBS Degree in the required discipline and recognized by MCI or First Class Master’s Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological subjects from a recognized university or equivalent.
OR
  • Second class Master’s Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological discipline subjects with Ph.D degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Four years research experience in the relevant areas.

Desirable:

  • Doctorate Degree in Life Sciences with Molecular Biology/ Genetics/ Cell Biology/ Biotechnology or MD in the areas of Non-communicable diseases i.e. Cancer, CVD, Public health etc. for candidates with first class relevant degree.
  • Additional post doctoral research/teaching experience in chronic diseases.
  • Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Note: Ph.D or MD degree in subjects relevant to ICMR shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.

Age Limit:


Not exceeding 40
years as on 15.8.2008. Relax-able up to 5 years for Government servants in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard. The age relaxation is also allowed to SC/STOBC & PH candidates in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.
