Essential Qualification:- Ist Class M.Sc. in any area of Modern Biology/Life Sciences/Chemistry/Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/Biophysics/Microbiology / Molecular Biology/Botany/ Zoology.

Stipend:- Rs.10,000/- p.m ( fixed).

Note for Project No.1:-

  • Candidates with Ist Class M.Sc. in above subjects, having two years of relevant research experience may be placed in Level-III @ Rs.12,000/- p.m. (fixed).
  • Candidates with Ph.D. in above subjects may be placed in Level-IV @ Rs.15,000/- p.m. (fixed).
  • Higher start may be considered for candidates who have cleared at least UGC-CSIR lectureship (NET). In such cases emoluments may be fixed after adding 10% to the fixed consolidated emoluments.

Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. in Plant Biotechnology/Horticulture/Life Sciences or

Desirable: Research experience in the area of natural product chemistry / phytochemistry and should be capable of guiding and supervising research programmes of the division on chemical prospecting of bioresources.

(Aquaculture) in the scale of pay of Rs. 14,300-18,300/-

Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. in Fishery Sciences/Zoology or equivalent with specialization in aquaculture with at least eleven years research experience or Ph.D. in the above subjects with at least ten years research experience.

Desirable:
Research experience in biotechnological approaches on conservation, development and utilization of fishery resources. The candidate should be capable of guiding and supervising research programmes of the division on both food and ornamental fishes.

Post No.4: One Scientist – C: (Economic Entomology) in the scale of pay of Rs. 10,000-325-15,200/-

Essential Qualification:
1st class M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Zoology/Entomology or equivalent with specialization in economic Entomology having at least five years research experience or Ph.D. in the above subjects with at least four years research experience.

Desirable: Research experience in biotechnological approaches for development and utilization of insect bioresources. The candidate should be capable of guiding and supervising research programmes of the division.

General Terms and Conditions:

  1. For all the above posts candidates should not have completed the age of 35 years. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

Director, Institute of Microbial Technology, invites exceptionally motivated candidates who have passed M.Sc and cleared CSIR-UGC (NET), DBT-JRF examination, or ICMR-JRF examination (NOT THE NET LECTURERSHIP OR ICMR PROJECT) to appear for a walk-in interview on July 28, 2008, (Reporting Time 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon; kindly confirm your presence by e-mail) for pursuing doctoral research at IMTECH under the aegis of the Ph.D degree program being jointly run by IMTECH and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. IMTECH is a multidisciplinary institute with excellent research facilities, state of the art computer and library facilities, and faculty with interests in many different areas of modern biology and biotechnology. During this intake, openings may be available in the subjects illustratively mentioned below. Molecular Biology: Molecular biology of pathogens, gene silencing, stress tolerance, signal transduction, gene expression, genome-wide analysis. Eligibility and Selection:

Candidates with Master's Degree or equivalent in any branch of science (Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy) or in chemical/biochemical engineering who have qualified to be eligible to receive a doctoral junior research fellowship (JRF) after passing any of the following examinations are eligible to be interviewed: CSIR-UGC (NET), DBT-JRF examination, or ICMR-JRF examination. Those who come for interview must be prepared to be present in Chandigarh for three days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the admission of successful candidates. Only those candidates will be allowed to appear in the interview who produce a valid proof of having passed the qualifying masters’ level examination (e.g., may be a letter from the relevant Head of Department). Candidates must also state their present occupation, if any, before the interview; any concealment may result in cancellation of admission at any stage. Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Govt. of India rules). No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview. The decision of the Director, IMTECH, regarding selection/admission of the candidates shall be final.

Residential Accommodation:

Punjab MBA/MCA Common Aptitude Test MET 2008/PAM-CAT 2008

On behalf of the Punjab Government, Punjabi University, Patiala will hold the Management Entrance Test hereafter referred to as MET-2008 and Punjab Admission to MCA Common Aptitude Test hereafter referred to as PAM-CAT-2008 on 13th July 2008 (Sunday) for admission to MBA and MCA courses respectively in the Departments, Institutes and Colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjabi University, Patiala and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.

For Admission to the MBA/MCA courses through MET-2008, and PAM-CAT 2008, 85 % seats will be reserved for the residents of Punjab State and 15% seats will be open to candidates outside the State.

Eligibility

For MBA Course
All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline.

For MCA Course
All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline, with Mathematics at 10+2 school level or have passed BCA of minimum three years duration from any recognized University. However, the eligibility criteria for admission including educational qualifications as specified by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjabi University, Patiala will be applicable for admission to the institutions/colleges affiliated to respective Universities.
